I have always found it incredible that Jesus started the Supper by saying, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you.” The fact that the Son of God longed for this moment with His disciples should cause us to stand in awe and wonder at the grace He gives us by means of the sacraments. I hear the Saviour say, “I have earnestly desired…” and I find myself earnestly desiring that ultimate supper where we drink wine anew with Him in His Father’s kingdom.
Beautiful poem and reflection. Jesus’ words, “I have earnestly desired…” have been echoing in my heart and prayers too. “I am my Beloved’s and his desire is for me.” The Song of Songs 7:11
I keep coming back and reading this poem. I'm still digesting it. It's great, really, but what I think I need is a day off from work to really sit with it for an hour or so, read it out loud a few times and then listen for his voice. I'll come back and share once I do.
I struggle through the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary every time. Only great, powerful and supernatural love could motivate Jeshua to get through that.
So beautifully said…thank you. I have just started a class at church on the Lord’s Supper and will share this with them. I appreciate these thoughts and the way they are written.
"I have earnestly desired". That is deep and wide and demands a lot more thought. I can't say I have ever heard that expanded, or expounded.

"this river's depths I cannot know, but I can glory in its flood"
we will never reach the bottom of these things into which angels long to look.
