One thing he said is that we have this wrong modern idea that God is hiding from us and we need to go in search of him… but the truth is He is here looking for us and *we’re* the ones hiding our faces from Him…
The other related point is when he says something like “only bad people go to Heaven.” The Pharisee full of righteousness has no need of a savior…
Thanks for commenting on my thoughts on this book. My first real prayer was a demand -'Jesus, help me! I don't promise you anything, just help me!' I was hiding my face from him then. My post was from my blog from 2019 so I'm almost ready to read it again. :)
The world he conjures feels so ancient and yet palpably real. It’s an immersive experience in which you get swept away. His first-person narration is effective you become Orual.
Love it.
Faces is definitely dark and strange, but I'm in the camp that it may very well be Lewis's greatest fictional work.
Happy reading!
I heard that he considered it his best work. Definitely one I plan to return to in the future!
Thank you! This is one I haven’t built up the courage to read yet, thank you for the beautiful reflection.
I remember a couple points that stood out to me from an old Alastair Begg sermon. still online, from a prison, here:

Anyway, thanks again as always!
Thank you, I will need to check it out! I have heard some great Alastair Begg sermons. Amen, the Doctor only calls on the sick.

"We demand that the gods show their faces, while we hide our own". Such power in those words.
My favorite Lewis book! Great reflection.
Thank you sir! Do you have a favorite part?

Agreed, it is a very cohesive world. He does a great job at making a story that takes place over many years flow well.
